    Prescription Security features

Some Good ideas here.  Like the use of ** or ## surrounding numbers.

like  Oxycodone 10mg IR 1 tab po qid  M: **50**  R:**1** may repeat in 11 days.

    Re: Prescription Security features

Hmm. Implementation is from 1st Oct 2008.

Well I can easily add the ## around numbers.  And the template can be easily modified by users to add the microsignature line, as well as the security features.

    So, nothing pressing.

    Re: Prescription Security features

About 5 lines of code in beta 71 gives

    M: ***300***

    or

    M: ***3*** months ***3*** repeats

    Re: Prescription Security features

I've added this to the script template

    font Times-Roman 3
at 400x72 "This is an original prescription."

any font size less than 3 is illegible.

I doubt a photocopier will reproduce a 3 point font.

    Re: Prescription Security features

Add this to your prescription template

    newpath
    color 200.200.200
    at 398x206 box 160x48 fill
    color (black)
at 400x240 "Prescription Security Features "
    font Times-Roman 6
at 400x230 "1. ** surrounds numerals in the M: field"
    at 400x223 {2. the words  "original prescription" in a 3 point font follow the}
    at 400x216 {signature line}
at 400x209 "3. This notice is present inside a gray shaded box"
    font Times-Roman 3
at 400x72 "This is an original prescription."
    font Times-Roman 12

Insert it after the lines that look like this

    at 140x72 "Signature:"
    at 210x72 line 380x72

and this now fufills the Medicaid Prescription requirements as per http://www.ncpdp.org/pdf/Final_ltr_to_medicaid_directors.pdf

The micro text and gray shading fufills category 1 for copy resistance
The ** fufills category 2 for tampering
And the notice fufills category 3 for counterfeit resistance

    Re: Prescription Security features

One other EMR prevents prescriptions from being printed until the program is registered ... to prevent prescription forgery.

Perhaps Synapse should consider this ...
