What does Managed EMR mean?

What does SynapseDirect Managed EMR cost?
$100.00 per Doctor per Month plus one-off $100.00 Setup Fee. This simple monthly fee includes 1 Doctor and 1 Support Staff such as your Receptionist or Assistant.
What is the cancellation period or terms?
You may cancel your Managed EMR Contract in writing providing 60 days notice. See note below about data transfer.
Where is my data stored?
Your electronic medical records are stored securely within your own dedicated Synapse EMR Express server and database. Your server can be located in any of our data-centers, although normally will be stored in a location nearest to your office. Your can also backup your data to a local PC or laptop using our one of our optional Disaster Recovery plans.
Is SynpaseEMR Web-Based?
No. Synapse EMR is a "client-server" application. This means that we are very secure in not providing any public web-gateway to your information. We host all the complex server components within our data-center and provide a PC client application which you run upon your PC, Laptop or PDA or even an Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC). You access your server through a unique IP address and port number.
Is an internet connection required to access Synapse EMR?
Yes. You use a standard Cable (ADSL) internet connection to access Synapse EMR.
What if my internet connection is down? Can I still use Synapse EMR?
Yes. Under our optional Disaster Recovery Plan, you connect to the local copy of your Patient Database. This may be a few days out-of-date depending upon your chosen backup schedule.
Can I try before I sign-up?
Yes. SynapseDirect want you to try out Synapse EMR and check its the right Electronic Medical Record for your type of practice. We offer two types of try-out:
(a) Quick Start by downloading our standard client - the same PC client that you will use - and connect to our USA based test server. This includes a good cross sample of patient data including pediatrics, oncology, geriatrics, family health care, etc.
(b) Our Beta Program allows you to start using Synapse EMR within a few hours of sign-up. If your trial program goes according to plan we can either provide a database cleardown or simply switch your system live upon completion of some paperwork & payment.
How can I get a copy of my data?
SynapseDirect offer a number of complementary Disaster Recovery plans. "Disaster Recovery Plan A" allows you to schedule & monitor daily, weekly or monthly downloads of your data to a local office PC or laptop. We also walk you through executing a Disaster Recovery test connecting one or two office PCs to this Disaster Recovery copy of your data.
I don't take the Disaster Recovery Plan, can I still get my data?
Yes. From your Doctor Control Panel you can download a realtime image of Electronic Medical Records in a format open for exchange and integration with other HIMSS compatible systems. Doctors who are not covered by Disaster Recovery Plan have a limit upon the number & frequency of EMR downloads.
If I cancel my SynapseDirect EMR, can I get my data?
Yes. Automatically upon termination of your SynapseDirect EMR agreement, your Doctor Control panel will display a secure hyperlink for the download of your data. This remains active for a period of 60 days, after which period your database is securely erased.
Can I run Synapse EMR upon the a new UMPC or tablet?
Yes. Provides your device supports Microsoft Windows 2000 or later, we will support the device. Synapse EMR has been customized to offer reduced screen dimensions to fit within today's UMPC screen dimensions.
What's different about Synapse EMR Doctors?
They're just like you. Solo Doctors, Family Practitioners and small doctors offices. Synapse EMR is a growing community of Family or Specialty Doctors who share and interact within our on-line Doctor Forums. It's good to talk with other Doctors in our community.
How does SynapseDirect encourage collaboration?
Synapse EMR allows any number of users (usually you and your Receptionist or HealthCarer) to add information to the same patient at the same time. While you're finishing up Patient Notes, your other staff can be ordering up tests or arranging that patients' next appointment.
