What about a "double check" between the patient whose result was just viewed [View Scan] and the "Current Synapse Patient" ?  

This Message Staff icon (from the inbox) is a good example of the beginning of good workflow.  

Something to consider ... If tab inbox is open, refresh every minute ... and lose current changes
